Probably final weekend we’ll have in the Lakes for 2025, staying at Waterside House campsite again. Weather was too windy for any fell walking on Saturday, but Sunday was glorious.
We took a bus from the campsite to Aira Force on the other side of Ullswater. After a short walk up to see the waterfall, we escaped the crowds and headed upwards towards Green Hill on a very pleasant grassy climb.

This was largely deserted and afforded great views of Ullswater. We could look over to Hallin Fell where we’d been almost exactly a year ago.

From Green Hill we turned towards Gowbarrow and crossly slightly marshy terrain to reach the trig point. It was popular with both walkers and midges so we didn’t spend long there. Good views of Great Mell Fell and Little Mell Fell, as well as Blencathra further beyond.

Took a slightly rockier descent off the summit than was necessary before joining a path that provided a fairly shallow descent following the contours of the fell back towards Aira Force.
This brings our Wainwright totals to Sarah 30, Paul 48
