Walk #10 Troutbeck Tongue

Distance:5.5 miles Time: 3hrs (inc. stops) Total ascent: 296m

We had planned a longer walk for today, but Sarah wasn’t feeling great so we opted to do a fairly easy ‘out and back’ to Troutback Tongue.

Parking in a small layby just to the north of Troutbeck, we wandered down a lane for a few kilometres with Troutbeck Tongue looking tiny amonst the peaks towering around it.

The ascent was fairly straightforward, aside from a very boggy patch at the bottom. Weather today was warm and windless, and even though it’s not the tallest of fells, the view from the top over towards Windermere was still worth the climb.

We descended the way we came, making it the Mortal Man pub in Troutbeck before they stopped serving food at 3pm.

Our last walk of the week, bringing our Wainwright totals to Sarah 11, Paul 19
