A nice easy walk for a sunny sunday afternoon. We parked at Woodend Brow, but we discovered a much quick way to simply ‘bag’ the fell would have been to park on the road between the Pheasant Inn and Wythop Mill. However, that would have robbed us a cool walk through the woods!

The climb was fairly gentle, emerging from the woods into sheep fields before approaching the fern-covered approach to the summit. As one of our party was wearing shorts and worried about ticks, we took a circuitous route onto the top, to be presented with a smooth, grassy stroll to the summit.
Excellent views from the top, with Scotland visible across the Solway Firth, the Irish Sea, and looking back, we could see Dodd that we’d tackled the previous day.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t spend long at the top, due to flying ants taking a very keen interest. We continued on with an easy descent and a road walk down the Pheasant Inn, and enjoyed more beer and food in the sun.

This brings our Wainwright totals to Sarah 15, Paul 29
