First time back in the lakes in 2024, this time in Norma the campervan!

Camping at Kestrel Lodge near Bassenthwaite, our plan was tackle Skiddaw and a few surrounding fells, but the weather had other ideas. We awoke to pouring rain and low cloud which didn’t clear until lunchtime.
Plan B was hatched, and instead we headed to Dodd. It was easy to park and while I had a route planned, there’s a clearly marked green trail to the summit. It was a hot afternoon, and the majority of the walk offers plenty of shade.

While Dodd is “only” 502m the trail is relentlessly upwards but not too steep. A bench close to the summit provided a welcome break with stunning views of Derwent in the sunshine.
From there it was a short push to the summit where we sat and enjoyed the views, looking across to previous conquests Lords Seat and Barf.

On the way down, we hatched a plan to have some beer and food at the Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite, which was an excellent move. This brings our Wainwright totals to Sarah 14, Paul 28
